TIOGA COUNTY — As we are just days away from the start of the 2025 Fall sports season, let’s take a final look back at the Top 20 highlights of the 2024-’25 sports year here in the West.

No. 14
Wellsboro Boys Tennis Wins 5th Straight NTL title

Head Coach Andy Borzok and The Hornets finished 6-0 in the league and 11-6 overall to win their 5th straight NTL championship .. and their 7th in eight years .. behind a 14-1 season by No. 3 singles’ player Mason Brill and a 13-5 record by No. 2 Lucas Cuneo.

Wellsboro Swimmers Collect District Hardware

Freshmen Matthew Robbins and Piper Anderegg each brought home a pair of medals at the District IV Swimming Championships .. Robbins swam a 24.12 in the 50 Free and a 52.25 in the 100 Free, both personal bests, to bring home two bronze medals, while Anderegg swam a 2:05.56 in the 200 Free to finish on the podium in 4th place and placed 3rd in the 500 Free in 5:40.80 for bronze.

Wellsboro Boys Soccer Claim 3rd Straight League Title

Head Coach Todd Fitch led his Hornets to a 12-0 record in the NTL to claim their 3rd straight title, finished 15-5 overall and broke through to the semifinals of the District 4 Class 2A playoffs with a 1-0 win over Montoursville in the quarters.

NP-Mansfield’s James Knefley Has Great State XC Run

Knefley, a sophomore, qualified for the PIAA Cross Country Championships by finishing 11th at Districts in 16:58.10 and placed 42nd at States with a 17:19.
