
LIBERTY — Wellsboro jumped out to a 2-0 lead before the host Lady Mounties rallied to tie the match up and force a fifth set, which the Lady Hornets took to secure the win here Tuesday night in a big NTL large school volleyball tilt.
The Hornets won the first two sets, 26-24 and 25-20, and NPL rallied to take the next two, 25-15 and 25-22 to force a fifth set. Wellsboro won 15-11 to seal the 3-2 victory.
Peyton Keane led Wellsboro with 12 kills on the night and added 10 service points with a pair of aces, while Blake Eckart collected 24 digs, eight kills and a block.
Maddy Cruttenden had 21 digs, Jillian Mickey had 20 and Ellie Largey handed out 20 assists, Kendall Sweet had 11 points with three aces and Maddy Flannery had eight points with an ace.
For the Lady Mounties, Kameron Lightner finished with 15 kills and 19 digs while Haley Litzelman had 13 kills, 7 digs and two aces.
Madison Smith added 16 assists and 17 digs, Elaina Shaw had three aces, 10 assists and 20 digs, Maddie McNamara had 21 digs and two assists,.Kendall Graham had five kills, a block and six digs and Gabby Bubeck had 21 digs and four kills.
Wellsboro moves to 4-1 on the season with the win while Liberty drops to 3-2.
Both teams return to the court Thursday .. Wellsboro at home against Athens and the Lady Mounties at home against Northeast Bradford.
