
WELLSBORO — The Lady Hornets welcomed 4A Williamsport to town Saturday and took the 5-1 Lady Millionaires to five sets before falling, 3-2.
Williamsport won the first set 25-14 before Wellsboro rallied for two straight wins, 25-16 and 25-22. The Millionaires forced a fifth set with a 25-18 win in the fourth and sealed the win by taking the fifth set 15-7.
Maddy Cruttenden collected 32 digs in the match while Blake Eckart had 17 digs, three kills and 10 service points with six aces.
Ady Frantz had 14 kills and three blocks, Kendall Sweet had 10 points with four aces and three kills, Taylor Main had 12 digs, 10 assists and seven points with three aces and Ellie Largey had 15 assists.
Wellsboro (5-2) returns to league play Tuesday when they host Troy for a rematch of last year’s District IV 2A final, won by the Hornets.
