
BLOOMSBURG — Cowanesque Valley racked up 465 yards of offense and shut host Columbia Montour Vo Tech out in a 63-0 rout of the Rams here Saturday.
The Indians rushed and passed at will on CMVT, scoring three touchdowns in each of the first two quarters, two in the third and one in the fourth quarter, while opening the blowout with a safety on a Stevie Olson sack midway through the opening frame.
Dave Hess was a true triple threat in the first quarter as the junior ran for a 25-yard touchdown with 5:40 left, threw a 22-yard TD to Cam Stahli with 5:15 remaining and caught a 69-yard score from Levi Stahli at the end of the opening frame. Gavin Churchill hit the extra point kick after the first score while CV went for two on the second two and failed, leaving the Indians up 21-0 after one.
Kegan Lane scored from seven yards out and ran in the 2-point conversion four minutes into the second quarter and scored on a 35-yard run less than two minutes later. Hess hit Churchill for the 2-point try and the Indians led 37-0. Hess then hauled in a 1-yard TD pass from Levi Stahli and Churchill’s kick completed the first half scoring to put CV up 44-0 at the break.
Lane scored both CV touchdowns in the third quarter .. on a 21-yard pass from Levi Stahli and a 38-yard run .. to give the Indians a 56-0 lead with a quarter left to play.
Lineman Olson completed the Indians’ scoring on the day with a 20-yard TD run with a minute left and Churchill’s kick provided the 63-0 final.
Hess finished with 58 yards rushing and a TD on four carries, three catches for 75 yards and a score and 2-for-5 passing for 60 yards and a touchdown.
Lane had 128 yards and three scores on the ground on eight carries and had one catch for a 21-yard TD while Levi Stahli completed 6-of-9 passing attempts for 132 yards and three TDs and rushed for 22 yards on five rushes.
Olson had two sacks for CV with Lane and Luke Sottolano also getting to the CMVT QB once each.
The Indians improve to 3-4 on the season with the win. They’ll be on the road for the third straight week next Friday when they travel to Northwest Area to take on the 2-5 Rangers.
