Northern Tier West Sports ReportTIOGA JUNCTION, Pa. — The Williamson boys’ soccer team took a big step in a rebuilding process, resulting in the Warriors’ fourth straight playoff appearance and a 12-win 2025 season.
“We knew it was going to be a difficult season,” says Head Coach Kyle Adriance, “and we know next year will be tough, too. But I'm very proud of the how the team atmosphere was this year. We held each other accountable, kept morale high and I could see how they built each other up in tough moments.”
The Warriors went 11-6 in the regular season, including a 6-6 mark in the league. After a 4-0 start that included wins over Port Allegany, Northern Potter, Towanda and North Penn-Liberty for the first of three victories over the Mounties.
League losses to Northeast Bradford and Wellsboro sandwiched a win over Addison (NY) and led into a three game winning streak .. over Galeton, Troy and Liberty .. that left Williamson with an 8-2 record.
Back-to-back losses (1-0, 2-0) to eventual league champ Athens was followed by another win over NPL, another loss to NEB and a second win over Troy. The Warriors lost to Wellsboro again and finished their regular season up with another win over Addison.
As the No. 6 seed in the District IV Class AA playoffs, Williamson faced No. 11 seed Milton. After playing to a 2-2 tie through two overtime periods, the Warriors edged the Panthers on penalty kicks, netting five and holding Milton to four makes.
The Warriors saw their season come to an end in the quarterfinals, falling 12-1 to No. 3 seed Central Columbia to finish 12-7 on the year.
Williamson outscored their opponents 48-25 in the regular season .. 51-39 overall .. as sophomore Ben Bower led the way with 13 goals on the season, adding two assists.
Senior Braeden Colwell scored 10 goals and had three assists while Hayden Plunkert had eight goals and 11 assists and Liam Kies had six goals and had 13 assists.
The Warriors’ defense collected four clean sheets, led by senior Ayren Morgan (1 assist), junior Maddox Hartman( 2 assists) and sophomore Nate Gehman (1 G, 1 assist).
“A lot of players developed leadership qualities that I didn't, honestly, expect to see from them individually,” says Adriance, “I was very proud to watch their growth.”
Adriance points out Plunkert and Kies as players that played above and beyond for the Warriors.
“Liam (Kies) and Hayden (Plunkert) were multi-positional players, kept us in games and contributed a lot from deeper midfield roles,” explained Adriance.
Adriance is ready to begin getting ready for 2026.
“We’ll begin next season's preparation in December,” says Adriance, “and we expect to be challenging again next season with the quality we have coming from the academy.”
“I wish our seniors the best of luck in their next phases,” continued Adriance, “Our underclassmen have big shoes to fill.”
