Northern Tier West Sports ReportLIBERTY — The Lady Mounties got a game-high 26 points from Haley Litzelman but were edged by the visiting Athens Lady Wildcats 44-41 in NTL girls’ basketball action here Friday night.
Athens jumped out to a 15-5 lead after a quarter of play before NPL rallied for a 15-6 second quarter behind 10 Litzelman points and five from Victoria McTish to go into the locker rooms down 21-20.
Litzelman and McTish had four points each in the third quarter and Kendall Graham hit a three but Athens scored 12 points to bump their lead to 33-31. An 11-10 Athens’ fourth quarter gave the Wildcats the 44-41 win.
Litzelman added 19 rebounds to her 26 points for the double-double and also had four assists and six blocks while McTish finished with 9 points and three rebounds, Kendall Graham had three points, three rebounds, three blocks and two steals, Serena Boiywo had two points, seven rebounds and three steals and Scarlett Graham chipped in with one point.
North Penn-Liberty (1-2) is scheduled to host Towanda on Wednesday.
