Northern Tier West Sports ReportJAMESTOWN, NY — Williamson competed at the STWOA Holiday Wrestling Classic on Friday and Saturday and put eight wrestlers on the podium, led by 285-pound tourney champ Luke Sottolano.
The Warriors placed 4th as a team in the 35-team tournament as their 14 wrestlers racked up 168 points on the weekend.
Sottolano went 5-0 to claim the heavyweight title, collecting three falls and a 5-2 (TB-1) decision to reach the final, where the senior’s 1-0 win over Corry Area senior Owen Nickerson gave him the gold.
Stevie Olson reached the 175-pound final after earning two falls and two technical falls. A loss to Corry Area junior Lamech Albers left sophomore Olson in 2nd place.
Sophomore Zander Wilson (118) placed 3rd after earning two tech falls and an 11-6 decision, falling into the consolations with a loss to tourney runner-up Tanner Catrabone from St. Francis and winning his final two matches (4-0 and 10-2).
Senior Anthony Baker (157) went 3-2 on the day to finish 5th, collecting two falls and an 18-7 decision to reach the podium, while senior Hunter Simonds (126) placed 6th, going 4-3 with four pins.
Senior Ben Freeman (215) went 4-2 on the weekend to place 7th, while sophomore Kohen Vandelinder (138) and junior Harlow Little (190) each went 3-3 in the tourney to place 8th.
Freshman Xander Stafford (126), sophomore Kolton Putt (132) and sophomore Riley Rall (190) all went 2-2 in the tournament while junior Ryder Dacheux (144), sophomore Jayden Bovee (150) and freshman Memphis Brockway (165) each went 0-2.
The Warriors return to dual meet action on Tuesday when they host Troy.
