Northern Tier West Sports ReportMANSFIELD — North Penn-Mansfield erased a double-digit, halftime lead but would come up short and fall to the visiting South Williamsport Lady Mounties, 53-46.
South took a 16-8 lead after the first quarter and led 28-17 at the break. Kameron Lightner led a Mansfield rally in the third quarter with nine points and the Tigers tied the game at 34-all.
Lightner scored seven fourth quarter points and Maddy McNamara added five points but South Williamsport scored 19 points to stop NP-Mansfield’s comeback attempt.
Lightner finished with a double-double with 22 points and 14 rebounds, adding four blocked shots and six steals. McNamara added 13 points and had nine boards, two steals and two assists.
Addie Lehman had four points, four steals and two rebounds, Julia Kaczynski had four points and five rebounds and Elaina Shaw had three points and three rebounds.
North Penn-Mansfield (1-1) is scheduled to visit Canton on Wednesday.
