Northern Tier West Sports ReportWELLSBORO — Wellsboro hosted Williamson Monday night and avenged a loss to the Lady Warriors last week, winning the rematch 36-28.
Ady Frantz led the Lady Hornets with 20 points, including five in the first quarter to help Wellsboro to a 9-4 lead and six points on a pair of 3-pointers in the second frame to increase the lead to 18-9 at the break.
Williamson got five points from Olivia Nolan in the third quarter and four from Bailey Snyder to cut into Wellsboro’s lead and trailed 25-18 entering the fourth.
Frantz scored nine points in the final quarter .. including hitting 7-of-12 from the free throw line .. to help hold off the Lady Warriors and earn the win.
Kate Bryant added eight points for Wellsboro while Kya Lawton and Lily Wagner had four points each in the win.
Kenna Thomas led Williamson with 13 points while Snyder had eight and Nolan had seven points.
Wellsboro (2-4) is scheduled to return to action next Tuesday when they host Coudersport, while Williamson’s (2-4) schedule has them off until January 5th when they host Galeton.
