HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS BASKETBALL: COWANESQUE VALLEY EARNS FIRST WIN OF THE SEASON IN OT THRILLER OVER ODESSA-MONTOUR (2025-12-29)

ADDISON, NY — The Cowanesque Valley girls’ basketball team earned their first win of the season Monday, edging Odessa-Montour 42-39 in overtime of the consolation game at Addison’s Colwell St. Classic tournament.

The Lady Indians came back from a five-point halftime deficit and pulled to within one after three quarters of play. Down three near the end of regulation, CV got a huge 3-pointer from Starr Ordway as time expired to tie the game at 38 and send it to overtime.

Jaylynn Anderson hit a bucket to give CV a one point lead in the extra period and Addy Lanzo hit a pair of free throws to secure the Indians’ first win of the season.

Ordway led CV with 12 points while Anderson added 10 points. Braelyn Balada had six points, Lanzo had five, Ariana Cary had three points and Stickler had two points.

Cowanesque Valley (1-7) returns to action next Wednesday, January 7th, when they host Sayre.
