Northern Tier West Sports ReportWELLSBORO — The Lady Hornets overcame a slow start and beat visiting Coudersport 33-26 in a non-league girls’ basketball match-up here Tuesday.
Coudersport took a 13-4 lead after the first quarter of play before Wellsboro answered with a 12-5 second frame behind eight points from Ady Frantz to cut the Lady Falcons’ lead to 18-16 at the halftime break.
Frantz scored all five of Wellsboro’s third quarter points and the Hornets cut the lead to one at 22-21 as they went to the fourth.
Kya Lawton scored eight points in the final quarter and Frantz added four points as the Lady Hornets pulled away for the 33-26 win.
Frantz finished with 17 points in the win while Lawton added 10 points and Kate Bryant scored six points.
Wellsboro (5-3) is scheduled to return to action on Saturday when they host Jersey Shore.
