NTL BOYS BASKETBALL: WELLSBORO FALLS TO LEAGUE LEADER TOWANDA (2026-01-08)

TOWANDA — Wellsboro fell behind league leading Towanda early and couldn’t catch up to the Black Knights, falling 62-43 in NTL boys basketball play Thursday.

Towanda took a 13-11 first quarter lead despite Wellsboro’s Colin Fletcher notching eight of his game-high 15 points in the opening frame. 

A 16-4 Towanda second quarter extended their lead to 29-15 at the break and the Knights’ 14-9 third quarter gave them a 43-24 lead. Fletcher scored seven points in the final frame and Luke Rothermel added six points but Towanda matched the Hornets’ 19 point quarter to seal the win.

Rothermel finished with nine points in the loss while Gideon Lawton had five points, Ethan Keane and Kody Enck had four points each and Griffin Morral, Jonathan Carl and Ransom Schultz each had two points.

Wellsboro evens their season record at 5-5 with the loss. They’ll visit Troy on Tuesday.
