Northern Tier West Sports ReportMANSFIELD — North Penn-Mansfield built a double-digit halftime advantage on NTL-I leader Towanda here Tuesday and held the 10-1 Black Knights off for a 56-47 win.
Andy Hermansen led the Tigers with 24 points in the win, including six in Mansfield’s 15-11 first quarter. The senior hit three 3-pointers in the second quarter and scored 10 points as Mansfield increased their lead to 30-18 at the break.
The Black Knights came out of the locker rooms and cut the Tigers’ lead to 38-33 after three quarters of play, but Mansfield got six points from Kevin Clemente-Vazquez, five from Hermansen and four from Jason Harer in the final frame to hold the Knights off and secure the win.
Harer finished with nine points in the win and added eight rebounds and three blocked shots, while Vazquez had eight points, Patrick Youmans had six points and 10 boards, Collin Oakes scored five points, Colton Pellett had three and Keaton Manikowski scored one point.
The Tigers improve to 7-5 on the season with their fourth straight ‘W’. They’re scheduled to visit Troy on Thursday.
