Northern Tier West Sports ReportLIBERTY — The Mounties took a slight lead into the fourth quarter of their match-up against Troy here Wednesday, but were unable to hold the Trojans off and fell 59-55.
NPL took a 12-6 lead after the first quarter before the Trojans closed the gap in the second quarter and the Mounties went into the break up 22-21.
A big third quarter by both teams bumped North Penn-Liberty’s lead to 43-41 and Troy outscored NPL 18-12 in the fourth to earn the win.
Luke Kreger led Liberty with 21 points while Evan McTish had 15 points, Conner Lewis had eight points, Landon Mattern scored six points and Brody Grinnell had five points.
The Mounties drop to 11-6 on the season with the loss. They’re scheduled to host Northeast Bradford on Friday.
