Northern Tier West Sports ReportMANSFIELD — Neither team hit double-digits in a quarter as North Penn-Mansfield was edged 25-23 by Athens in a low-scoring NTL large school girls’ basketball match-up here Tuesday.
The visiting Lady Wildcats took an 8-7 lead after the first quarter of play and bumped their lead to 15-12 at the break. The Lady Tigers cut the lead to 21-19 with a 7-6 third before a 4-all draw in the final frame provided the final.
Kameron Lightner led Mansfield with a double-double of 10 points and 18 rebounds in the loss. Addie Lehman, Julia Kaczynski and Elaina Shaw had four points each with Shaw and Kaczynski each grabbing 11 boards and Maddy McNamara chipped in with one point and had five rebounds and five assists.
North Penn-Mansfield (11-8) hosts Wyalusing on Thursday.
