Northern Tier West Sports ReportWELLSBORO — The Hornets rallied in the third quarter to push Towanda but would ultimately fall to the large school leading Black Knights, 37-28, in NTL boys’ basketball action Friday.
Towanda took a 10-4 lead after the first quarter and led 17-10 at the halftime break. Wellsboro cut the Towanda advantage to two points after a 14-9 third frame, but the Black Knights finished out the win with an 11-4 fourth.
Colin Fletcher led Wellsboro with 10 points while Luke Rothermel and Jonathan Carl had six points each, Griffin Morral had four points and Marek Mascho added two points.
Wellsboro (9-11) has one game remaining on their season, Monday at Central Columbia.
