DISTRICT IV WRESTLING: WILSON & SOTTOLANO ARE DISTRICT CHAMPS FOR WILLIAMSON (2026-02-21)

Northern Tier West Sports Report
WILLIAMSPORT — Williamson crowned a pair of title winners on Saturday as sophomore Zander Wilson and senior Luke Sottolano each claimed gold at the District IV Championships.

Wilson came in as the No. 3 seed at 114 pounds after winning his second Sectional title last week and again repeated, winning Districts for the second time after claiming the 107-pound title last year.

Wilson reached the semifinals after a tech fall win in the quarterfinals on Friday. A 9-6 decision over Montgomery freshman Gabe Oberheim put Wilson into the finals against top-seeded Rowen Humphrey, a senior from Southern Columbia.

Wilson, who beat Humphrey in last season’s District final and at Regionals to earn a 3rd-place finish a season ago, tech falled Humphrey 18-3 in 4:48 on Saturday to claim gold. Wilson was recognized by Circle W Sports as one of two AA Hillstone Farms Outstanding Wrestlers.

Sottolano won his first District title on Saturday, after having finished 3rd last season. After a 4-1 quarterfinal win on Friday, No. 1 seed Sottolano beat Southern Columbia sophomore Braylin Smith 8-2 in the semis.

In the 285-pound final, Sottolano ran his season record to 39-2 and earned his 123rd career victory with an 8-2 decision over Central Columbia senior Clayton Whitenight.

Joining Wilson and Sottolano at Regionals will be senior Hunter Simonds, who placed 5th for the Warriors. After falling in his quarterfinal bout Friday night, Simonds received a forfeit in the first round of consolations, won 10-0 over Montoursville’s Brody Bower, fell to 3rd-place winner Chase Wirnsberger from Warrior Run and then tech falled Northeast Bradford’s Hunter Comstock 19-4 to claim 5th.

Williamson’s remaining wrestlers were all knocked out in Saturday’s consolation rounds.

Walker Hyde (121) went 1-1 on Friday and was pinned in his consolation match Saturday to bring his season to a close.

Kohen Vandelinder (139), Stevie Olson (189) and Riley Rall (215) each lost their first consolation matches on Saturday and were eliminated.

Wilson, Sottolano and Simonds will compete at next week’s Regional Championships, again at Williamsport High School.
