NTL WRESTLING: SOTTOLANO & WILSON INTO REGIONAL SEMIS FOR WILLIAMSON (2026-02-27)

WILLIAMSPORT — Williamson senior Luke Sottolano and sophomore Zander Wilson advanced to Saturday’s Northeast Region semifinals while senior Hunter Simonds went 1-1 on Friday night and will wrestle back through the consolation bracket.

285 pound top seed Sottolano (40-2) pinned Troy junior Reed Palmer in 1:10 Friday and will face No. 5 seed Braylin Smith (36-12), a Southern Columbia sophomore, in the semis. Sottolano is 3-0 against Smith, including an 8-2 win in last week’s District semis.

Wilson (36-4), the No. 1 seed at 114 pounds, beat No. 8 seed Mason Kerstetter from Midd-West 7-5 Friday night and will see No. 5 seed Gabe Oberheim (48-6) a freshman from Montgomery, in the semifinals. Wilson beat Oberheim 9-6 in last week’s District semifinal.

No. 8 seed, 127-pounder Simonds (36-11) won his opening bout Friday night with a 15-0 TF over Northeast Bradford’s Hunter Comstock (27-13) before losing by fall to No. 1 seed C.J. Caines (44-0), a sophomore from Hanover Area, to drop into the consolation bracket. Simonds will face No. 10 seed Brody Bower (22-17) Saturday morning. Simonds beat the Montoursville junior 10-0 last week at Districts. 

Wrestling begins at 9 a.m. Saturday back at Williamsport HS with the first round of consolation matches, followed by the championship semifinals and consolation quarterfinals.
