Northern Tier West Sports ReportHERSHEY — Williamson wrestlers Zander Wilson and Luke Sottolano will each wrestle for 7th place at the PIAA State Championships on Saturday.
The two Warriors took similar paths to the podium, as both won their first round bouts Thursday before getting knocked into the consolation rounds with quarterfinal losses.
Each won their first consolation bout 4-2 on Friday .. Wilson over Hanover Area’s Chase Smith, Sottolano over Warrior Run’s Noah Johnson .. before losing in the 4th round of consi’s.
Wilson was tech falled by Faith Christian Academy’s Cruz Little while Sottolano was edged 2-1 by Upper Dauphin’s Eoghan Savage.
Wilson faces well-known foe Rowen Humphrey in the 114-pound 7th/8th place match on Saturday. He’s 4-0 in his career against Humphrey, including tech fall wins over the Southern Columbia senior in both the District and Regional finals this season.
285-pounder Sottolano will wrestle Conneaut Area senior Drew Dygert, who also lost to Savage this week at States, 1-0.
The 7th/8th place matches are scheduled to start at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday.
