Northern Tier West Sports ReportWYALUSING — North Penn-Mansfield earned their first win of the season here Monday, edging Wyalusing 4-3 in extra innings.
The host Rams took a 1-0 lead in the first inning that held up until the Tigers tied it up in the top of the sixth when Jason Harer doubled to bring Andy Hermansen home.
Wyalusing retook the lead with a run in the bottom half of the sixth and Mansfield answered with two runs in the top of the seventh when Noah Musser and Isaac Sparks both singled and Kam House drove them both in for a 3-2 NPM lead.
The Rams again answered in the bottom half and tied the game up, sending it to extra innings.
Hermansen reached base on a Wyalusing error to start the eighth and stole second before Harer sacrificed him to third and Collin Oakes would score Hermansen on a sacrifice to give the Tigers the 4-3 lead.
Harer sat Wyalusing down in order, inducing a pair of fly outs and striking out the final batter, to seal the Tigers’ first win of the season.
Isaac Sparks had started on the mound for NPM and went six and two-thirds, allowing three runs .. one earned .. on four base hits and two walks with eight strikeouts. Harer went the final one and a third with two Ks.
House (2 RBI) had two base hits for Mansfield while Harer (1 RBI), Ryder Breon, Oakes (1 RBI), Musser (1 R), Sparks (1 R) and Peyton Greene had one hit each and Hermansen scored two runs.
The Tigers (1-1) are scheduled to host Troy on Tuesday.
