NTL SOFTBALL: NPL LADY MOUNTIES HAND ATHENS FIRST LOSS (2026-04-04)

ATHENS — North Penn-Liberty outhit and took advantage of three Athens’ errors as they handed the Lady Wildcats their first loss of the season here Saturday, 3-1.

The Lady Mounties scored first, as Claire Dominick doubled in the 2nd inning, advanced on an Elaina Shaw single and would score on a passed ball to put Liberty up 1-0.

Haley Litzelman hit a triple in the 3rd frame that scored Julia Kaczynski .. who had singled .. and the Mounties went up 2-0 before the host Wildcats cut the lead to 2-1 in the bottom of the 3rd with their lone run off winning pitcher Elyna Booth. 

Booth went all seven innings and allowed the lone earned run on six base hits while walking none and striking out seven. 

Liberty added an insurance run in the sixth when Kameron Lightner reached base on an error and Maddie McNamara singled her home.

Litzelman finished with two hits (3b, 1 RBI), as did Kaczynski (2b, 1 run) and McNamara (1 RBI) while Dominick (2b, 1 run) and Shaw had one hit each and Lightner scored a run.

North Penn-Liberty (3-2) is scheduled to return to play Thursday at Canton.
