Northern Tier West Sports ReportWELLSBORO — The Hornets jumped out to a quick lead and cruised to a 10-0 win in five innings over Troy in an NTL large school baseball match-up here Wednesday.
Wellsboro scored four runs in the first inning, three in the second, one in the fourth and their final two in the fifth to end the game early.
Max Mascho got the shut out win for the Hornets, pitching all five innings and holding the Trojans to two hits with two walks while striking out six.
Marek Mascho had two base hits .. including a double .. and added an RBI and three runs scored. Cameron Owlett drove in four runs with two base hits, Reed Richardson had a double and a run scored and Max Mascho had a base hit and two RBI. Griffin Morral and Gabe Cuneo each scored a pair of runs in the win.
Now 2-1 on the season, Wellsboro is scheduled to return to play on Thursday at Sayre.
