Northern Tier West Sports ReportEAST TROY — Wellsboro earned a large school win, beating Troy 8-4 in NTL baseball action here Tuesday.
The Hornets scored a pair of runs in the first inning before Troy answered with a run in the bottom half. Wellsboro scored a run in the second and in the third to go up 4-1, but the Trojans tied it up with a three run third.
Wellsboro would put the game away with a run in the top of the fourth and their final three runs in the sixth.
Coen Tennis led the Hornets at the plate with a home run and a single, three RBI and a run scored. Gabe Cuneo had a hit, two RBI and two runs scored, Griffin Morral had a hit, an RBI and a run scored, Marek Mascho and Reed Richardson each had a hit and an RBI, Max Mascho had a hit and scored a run and Gage Baltzley scored three runs.
Baltzley went the distance on the mound, throwing all six innings and allowing four runs (3 earned) on seven hits and two walks with three strikeouts.
The Hornets (5-2) are scheduled to host North Penn-Mansfield on Thursday.
