Northern Tier West Sports ReportWESTFIELD — The Cowanesque Valley baseball team won a pair of games on Saturday, beating Sayre 11-1 and then topping Northern Potter 7-4.
In their win over Sayre, the Indians took advantage of 11 Redskin errors and scored four runs in the first inning, one in the second, three in the third, two in the fourth and one in the fifth. Sayre scored their lone run in the top of the fifth.
Cam Stahli started on the mound and went three innings without allowing a hit or walk and struck out four. Jacob Whitsell pitched the final two innings and allowed an earned run on three hits and a walk with two Ks.
Lucas Hamilton (1 R) had two base hits while Hunter Simonds (2 RBI, 2 R), Dave Hess (1 RBI, 1 R), Levi Stahli (2 RBI, 2 R), Gavin Churchill (1 RBI), Brody Bruce (1 RBI, 1 R) and Cam Stahli (1 R) had one hit each, William Kies had an RBI and two runs scored and Ayren Morgan scored a run.
CV used four pitchers in their 7-4 win over Northern Potter. Drayden McGee went two innings and allowed one unearned run on two hits and two walks with three strikeouts. Max Millard pitched an inning, giving up two earned runs on four hits with one K, Simonds threw two innings and allowed one earned run on two hits and two walks with two strikeouts and Churchill pitched the final two innings and gave up a hit and a walk.
The Indians had nine base hits in the win, led by two each from Morgan (1 RBI, 1 R) and Levi Stahli (2 RBI, 2 R). Hess (1 R) had a double and Whitsell had a base hit while Cam Stahli had an RBI and Bruce, Hamilton and Simonds each scored.
Cowanesque Valley, now 11-1 on the season, is scheduled to return to action on Monday when they host Addison (NY).
