Northern Tier West Sports ReportWESTFIELD — Williamson scored early and made the lead hold up, beating Cowanesque Valley 3-0 in NTL softball action here Thursday.
The Lady Warriors took a 2-0 lead in their first at-bat when Kenna Thomas drove Alexis Sprague in after Sprague led the first inning off with a single. Thomas would later score on a wild pitch.
In the third inning, Lexi Smalley singled for Williamson and would score on a wild pitch later in the inning to provide the 3-0 final score.
Thomas went all seven innings in the circle for Williamson, allowing five CV hits while walking one and striking out 11, and had two base hits while adding an RBI and a run scored.
McKenzie Adriance had a double for Williamson in the win, Ashlyn Wells had a base hit and Smalley and Sprague each had a hit and a run scored.
Zeraya Wilson had two of CV’s five base hits in the loss while Bella Mascho, Emma Carl and Braelynn Balada each singled.
Lilah LaBarron pitched seven innings, giving up two runs (1 earned) on five hits and two walks with 10 strikeouts.
Williamson (8-4) is scheduled to return to play next Thursday at Towanda, while Cowanesque Valley (7-5) is scheduled to host North Penn-Liberty on Saturday.
