NTL SOFTBALL: NPL LADY MOUNTIES DOWNED BY ATHENS (2026-04-28)

MANSFIELD — North Penn-Liberty had their nine game winning streak snapped as they fell 5-1 to Athens in NTL softball action here Tuesday.

The visiting Wildcats scored a pair of runs in the first inning and added single runs in the second and third frames to take a 4-0 lead into the bottom of the fifth.

The Lady Mounties scored their lone run in the fifth and Athens added their final run in the top of the seventh to seal the win.

Haley Litzelman had two base hits in the loss, including a double, while Maddie McNamara had a double and scored and Julia Kaczynski had a base hit.

Elyna Booth started int the circle for NPL and went three innings, allowing four runs (3 earned) on six Athens’ hits and a walk with four strikeouts. Litzelman pitched the final four innings and gave up one unearned run on one hit and a walk with three K’s.

The Mounties (10-3) are scheduled to return to play on Wednesday at Montgomery.
