NTL BASEBALL: COWANESQUE VALLEY FALLS TO ATHENS (2026-04-30)

ATHENS — The host Wildcats shut down a streaking Cowanesque Valley lineup, beating the visiting Indians 9-0 in an NTL crossover match-up here Thursday.

CV entered the game winners of their last seven and 14-1 overall, averaging nearly 12 runs per game, including over 18 an outing in their last three. 

The Indians had given up less than three runs per game coming in, but Athens scored four in the first inning, two in the third and their final three runs in the fourth to get the win.

Cowanesque Valley had six base hits in the loss, led by Ayren Morgan’s two hits and singles from Dave Hess, Levi Stahli, Hunter Simonds and Brody Bruce.

Morgan started and took the loss for CV, going three innings and allowing six runs (4 earned) on eight Athens’ base hits and a walk with three strikeouts. Hess pitched one inning and gave up three earned runs on three hits and a walk with one strikeout and Max Millard threw the final two innings, allowing no runs and two hits with a walk and a K. 

Cowanesque Valley (14-2) is scheduled to return to action on Monday when they host non-league Sullivan County.
