Northern Tier West Sports ReportADDISON, NY and CAMPBELL, NY — The North Penn-Mansfield baseball team made a trip through New York State to play a pair of games on Saturday, dropping a close one, 8-6, to Addison and beating Campbell-Savona, 10-0.
In the loss to Addison Andy Hermansen had the hot bat, collecting four base hits, including a leadoff home run in the fifth inning that gave the Tigers a 3-2 lead. Addison plated six runs in the bottom half of the fifth and NPM couldn’t catch up, adding their final three runs in the sixth to take the loss.
Hermansen added three RBI and two runs scored while also pitching the final two innings, allowing no runs and one hit with a walk and a strikeout. Isaac Spark was tagged with the loss after starting and going four innings and giving up eight runs (3 earned) on seven base hits with three strikeouts.
Ryder Breon had two hits and two RBI while Adam Wilson had a hit and an RBI, Collin Oakes and Brock Deitrick each had a hit and scored a run, Noah Musser had a base hit and Sparks scored.
The Tigers scored in all but one inning of their 10-0 win at Campbell-Savona, plating two runs in the first inning, two in the third, three in the fourth, two in the fifth and one in the sixth to end the game early.
Musser got the win, starting and going four and two-third innings without allowing a hit, walking three and striking out 11. Breon pitched the final inning and a third, allowing one hit and striking out two.
Breon had three hits, two RBI and two runs scored, Jason Harer had two base hits and scored three runs and Wilson had two hits, an RBI and scored once.
Hermansen had a triple and scored a run, Musser had a hit and two RBI, Oakes had a hit, an RBI and two runs scored, Sparks had a hit, an RBI and one run scored, Deitrick had a hit and Luke Bryan and Jackson Raught each had an RBI.
North Penn-Mansfield (4-10) is scheduled to return to play on Tuesday at Northeast Bradford.
