NTL SOFTBALL: FRANTZ BREAKS WELLSBORO SEASON 'K' RECORD IN WIN OVER NEB (2026-05-07)

WELLSBORO — The Lady Hornets scored seven unanswered runs and downed Northeast Bradford 7-3 behind a record breaking effort from ace Ady Frantz here Thursday.

NEB scored three runs in the first inning and held the 3-0 lead until the bottom of the 4th when Wellsboro scored two runs. The Hornets added three runs in the 5th and two more in the 6th to get the win. 

Frantz went all seven innings in the circle for Wellsboro, giving up four NEB base hits and walking seven while striking out 13. The sophomore now stands at 189 Ks on the season, breaking the Wellsboro record of 178  set by Alyssa Yungwirth in 2016 when the Lady Hornets won an NTL title and went 18-3.

Frantz helped her own cause at the plate with a triple, a single, an RBI and a run scored, while Delaney Morral and Teagan Novinger each had two hits, an RBI and a run scored. 

Gena Fleming had a double and two RBI, Harleigh Cleveland and Rylee Coolidge each had a base hit and scored and Mazie Johnson had a hit.

The Lady Hornets (9-9) are scheduled to return to action on Friday when they host Wyalusing.
