Northern Tier West Sports ReportATHENS — The North Penn-Mansfield boys won the NTL Championship meet on Friday, narrowly edging out Wellsboro, while the Lady Tigers placed 6th.
The boys scored 138 points on the day to edge Wellsboro (132) for the title.
Deakon Valentine won both the javelin (167-9) and the discus (151-2), Michael Knefley won the 1600m run (4:26.92), Luke Kreger won the high jump (6-2) and the 4x100m relay (44.94) was 1st.
Kreger was 2nd in the long jump (19-10.25), Brody Grinnell was 2nd in the javelin (158-5), Sudan Benner was 2nd in the 100m (11.96) with Grinnell taking 3rd (11.98), the 4x400m (3:33.37) and 4x800m (8:38.38) relays were both 2nd and Knefley was 3rd in the 3200m (10:13.60) and 4th in the 800m (2:07.72).
Colton Pellet placed 3rd in the high jump (5-10) and 4th in both the long jump (19-1) and triple jump (40-1.75), Braden VanLoon was 3rd in the 400m (52.05), Valentine was 5th in the shot put (42-0.5), Peter Bishop was 6th in the 400m (52.40), Charles Aumick was 8th in the 300m hurdles (46.85) and Gage Wheatley was 8th in the triple jump (39-0).
The Lady Tigers scored 62 points to tie for 6th place with Canton. Wellsboro won the girls’ title with 145 points.
Madilynn Scott won the triple jump (34-6.5) and the 4x400m relay team was first (4:18.76) while the 4x100m (51.51) and 4x800m (10:32.72) relays both placed 2nd.
Scarlett Graham was 3rd in the 200m (26.23), Leila Garverick was 4th in the 3200m (12:22.63), Nora Furry was 5th in the high jump (4-6) and 8th in both the 100m hurdles (18.72) and the triple jump (31-7.5), Maryn McCarthy was 5th in the 400m (1:05.42), Jaci Fairchild was 6th in the 1600m (5:32.66) and Scott was 7th in the 100m dash (13.59).
