Northern Tier West Sports ReportWELLSBORO — No. 1 seed Wellsboro will open the District IV Class 3A baseball playoffs on Tuesday when they host the winner of Saturday’s No. 8 Bloomsburg and No. 9 Towanda play-in game.
The Hornets beat Towanda twice this season .. 2-0 and 7-1 .. and have not played Bloom, who hasn’t played any NTL teams.
Wellsboro beat Hughesville 10-5 in their regular season finale while Bloomsburg is 1-1 against the No. 7 seed Spartans (10-10), winning 9-8 and losing 8-7.
With a win Tuesday, Wellsboro would advance to the semifinals where they’d face the winner between No. 5 seed Troy (14-6) and No. 4 seed Warrior Run (15-5).
