Northern Tier West Sports ReportMILTON — Colton Pellett won the high jump title and North Penn-Mansfield collected seven medals and four more State qualifiers as Day Two of the District IV Track & Field Championships wrapped up here Saturday.
Pellett won the high jump (6-03) while teammate Luke Kreger placed 4th (6-03) and also qualified for States.
Michael Knefley, already headed to States with the 4x800m relay team along with Braden VanLoon, Peter Bishop and Sudan Benner, placed 7th in the 1600m run and ran a State qualifying time (4:24.67).
VanLoon medaled in the 400m dash, placing 5th (51.27), while Benner, Brody Grinnell, Pellett and Kreger took 5th in the 4x100m relay (44.02) and VanLoon, Bishop, Knefley and Benner placed 6th in the 4x400m relay (3:31.28).
Pellett was 11th in the triple jump (39-2.25), Deakon Valentine was 11th in the discus (123-9), Bishop was 11th in the 400m (52.86) and 17th in the 800m run (2:08.98).
The Lady Tigers added a medal to the 4x800m relay team’s 8th place finish on Thursday, as Scarlett Graham placed 3rd in the 400m and qualified for States (59.33).
Graham, Gabby Bubeck, Anna Owlett and Maryn McCarthy just missed a medal in the 4x400m relay, placing 9th (4:21.73), while the 4x100m relay team of Madilynn Scott, Owlett, Bubeck and Victoria McTish finished 13th (53.02).
Scott was 11th in the triple jump (33-5.50), Jaci Fairchild was 11th in the 1600m run (5:33.24) and 17th in the 800m (2:31.65), Nora Furry was 13th in the high jump (4-8), Leila Garverick was 17th in the 1600m (5:48.29) and McCarthy was 19th in the 400m (1:04.72).
North Penn-Mansfield will send a total of seven athletes to next week’s State Championships, to compete in five events.
