Northern Tier West Sports ReportTIOGA COUNTY — The Northern Tier West Sports Report / Laurel Health ‘Athletes of the Week’ are District IV Track & Field title winners Piper Hoprich from Wellsboro and North Penn-Mansfield’s Colton Pellett and Hornet baseball player Coen Tennis.
Hoprich defended her 2025 District IV titles by once again climbing the podium as the winner in both the 100m (12.17) and 200m (25.22) dashes and added a state qualifying time in the Lady Hornets’ 3rd-place finish in the 4x100m relay (49.94).
Pellett won the District IV high jump title (6-03) to qualify for the PIAA Championships and earned a 5th-place medal in the 4x100m relay.
Tennis helped the Hornets to a 3-0 week and a share of the NTL large school baseball title. While the senior catcher didn’t get up to bat in Wellsboro’s continuation of their suspended game with Athens where the Hornets won 6-5, Tennis had a hit and a run scored in the start of the game back on April 21st.
In the Hornets’ 13-0 win over Williamson on Sunday, Tennis went 3-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored and in their 10-5 win over Hughesville he had three doubles, going 4-for-4 with an RBI and scoring twice.
