NTL BASEBALL: COWANESQUE VALLEY ADVANCES TO CLASS A FINAL WITH WIN OVER NEB (2026-05-19)

MANSFIELD — Cowanesque Valley rallied for four runs late to pull away and beat NEB 10-6 in the District IV A playoffs Tuesday and advance to Friday’s final for a chance to defend their 2025 title.

The Indians went up 6-0 with a run in each of the first and second innings and a four-run third before NEB scored four runs in the fifth and tied it up at 6-all with two runs in the sixth. 

In the home half of the sixth, CV used a pair of singles from Cam Stahli and William Kies, a triple from Dave Hess and singles by Ayren Morgan and Hunter Simonds to score four runs and take the 10-6 lead.

Levi Stahli came in to pitch the seventh inning and shut the door on the Panthers, getting a pair of groundouts and a strikeout to seal the win for the Indians. 

Morgan started on the mound for CV and went four and a third innings, allowing three earned runs on four hits and a walk with three strikeouts and Hess pitched one and two-third innings, giving up three earned runs on three NEB hits and two walks with four Ks.

The Indians opened the scoring in the first when Levi Stahli doubled in Kies .. who had singled .. and went up 2-0 in the second when Brody Bruce doubled to score Simonds .. who had walked.

In the third inning, Hess tripled and Morgan drove him in with a single, Levi Stahli reached base on an error, Simonds doubled to score Morgan and Stahli and then scored on a passed ball to make it 6-0 CV.

Hess finished with three hits, including two triples, and added an RBI and two runs scored. Simonds had two hits, with a double, three RBI and two runs scored and Morgan had two base hits, two RBI and scored twice. 

Kies had two hits, an RBI and two runs, Cam Stahli had two hits and a run scored, Bruce had a double and an RBI and Levi Stahli had a double, an RBI and a run scored.

Now 17-3 on the season, Cowanesque Valley will play for the championship on Friday at Bowman Field in Williamsport at 4:30 p.m. They’ll face No. 3 seed Benton (11-6), 3-2 winners over No. 2 seed Millville in the other Class A semifinal.
