SHIPPENSBURG — North Penn-Mansfield's Luke Kreger earned a spot on the podium at the PIAA Track and Field Championships Friday. The senior tied for eighth in the Class AA boys high jump.
Kreger cleared 6-feet, 2-inches and tied with Allentown Central Catholic's Jared Ford (6-feet, 2-inches), and Bishop Guilfoyle's Alex Krimmel.
Kreger made his first attempt at 5-feet, 10-inches, then passed at 6-feet. He made his first attempt at 6-feet, 2-inches, but couldn't quite clear 6-feet, 4-inches.
His teammate Colton Pellett was 24th at 5-feet, 10-inches. He cleared that height on his first try, then passed 6-feet, like Kreger.
However, he wasn't able to get over 6-feet, 2-inches.
In the 1600 Michael Knefley (4:32.99) was eighth in the second heat and 24th overall.
In the girls' 400 freshman Scarlett Graham (59.63) took 15th overall in the Class AA field. Graham was fifth in her heat, which featured fellow District IV competitors Katelyn Temple of Hughesville, and Natalie Hall of Warrior Run.
