Northern Tier West Sports ReportMANSFIELD — Top-seeded Wellsboro was the victim of a one-hitter and lost 5-0 to No. 4 seed Warrior Run in the District IV 3A semis here Friday.
The NTL large school co-champion Hornets had won 14 straight games coming into the semifinal Friday but now finish their 2026 season with a mark of 18-3.
Wellsboro’s bats were stymied by Warrior Run’s Griffen Harrington, a West Chester University commit, who threw all seven innings and gave up a single to Marek Mascho in the second inning for the Hornets’ lone hit, walked three, hit two batters and struck out 11.
The Defenders scored three runs in the first inning and added runs in the third and fifth to provide the 5-0 final.
Marek Mascho started on the mound and went two innings, allowing four runs (2 earned) on three WR hits and a walk with two strikeouts. Max Mascho pitched the next three frames and gave up an earned run on a hit and two walks with six K’s and Syler Pietrzyk threw the final two innings, walking one with one strikeout.
