Northern Tier West Sports ReportMANSFIELD — The North Penn-Mansfield Track & Field teams ran, jumped and threw their way to an NTL title on the boys’ side, 10 District IV medals between the girls’ and boys’ squads and a State medal in the 2026 season.
The boys won five events at the NTL meet to claim the title .. Deakon Valentine in the javelin and the discus, Michael Knefley in the 1600m run, Luke Kreger in the high jump and Kreger, Sudan Benner, Brody Grinnell and Colton Pellett in the 4x100m relay.
The Tigers racked up places and points to support their event wins at the league meet.
Kreger was 2nd in the long jump, Grinnell was 2nd in the javelin and 3rd in the 100m dash, Benner was 2nd in the 100 and both the 4x400 (Knefley, Benner, Braden VanLoon, Peter Bishop) and 4x800 (VanLoon, Benner, Bishop, Knefley) relays placed 2nd.
Pellett was 3rd in the high jump and 4th in both the long and triple jumps, Knefley was 3rd in the 3200 and 4th in the 800 and VanLoon was 3rd in the 400. Valentine was 5th in the shot put, Bishop was 6th in the 400, Charles Aumick was 8th in the 300m hurdles and Gage Wheatley was 8th in the triple jump.
The Lady Tigers claimed two event titles at the league meet and finished 6th.
Madalyn Scott won the triple jump and the 4x400m relay (Scarlett Graham, Gabby Bubeck, Anna Owlett, Maryn McCarthy) placed first as well.
Both the 4x100 (Scott, Owlett, Bubeck, Victoria McTish) and the 4x800 (Jaci Fairchild, McCarthy, Leila Garverick, Graham) relays placed 2nd while Graham was 3rd in the 200m dash and Garverick was 4th in the 3200. Nora Furry was 5th in the high jump and 8th in the 100m hurdles and the triple jump, McCarthy was 5th in the 400, Fairchild was 6th in the 1600 and Scott was 7th in the 100m dash.
The boys’ followed up their NTL win with eight medals at the District IV meet, highlighted by a championship win by Pellett in the high jump.
Valentine placed 3rd in the javelin, Kreger was 4th in the high jump, VanLoon was 5th in the 400, Knefley was 7th in the 1600 and the 4x800 relay was 4th, the 4x100 was 5th and the 4x400 was 6th.
The girls earned two medals at the District Championships as Graham placed 3rd in the 400 and the 4x800m relay finished 8th.
The Tigers sent seven athletes to the State meet, where Kreger got on the podium after tying for 8th place in the high jump. The boys’ 4x800m relay (VanLoon, Benner, Bishop, Knefley) missed placing by five seconds and finished 12th, Graham was 15th in the 400m run, Knefley was 24th in the 1600 and Pellett was 24th in the high jump.
