Northern Tier West Sports ReportMANSFIELD — The Southern Tioga majors (12U) softball All-Stars opened pool play of the District 15 tournament here Wednesday and earned an 11-0 win over visiting Troy.
Southern Tioga scored a run in the 1st inning, four in the 3rd and three in each of the 4th and 5th innings while holding Troy scoreless and hitless.
In other major softball play, Athens beat Canton in the East pool 22-2.
Southern Tioga returns to action Sunday when they travel to take on Wellsboro for a 4 p.m. game.
