Northern Tier West Sports ReportTOWANDA — The Cowanesque Valley golf team placed 5th at the NTL’s second league match of the season here Wednesday behind a team-low round of 83 by Danny Smith.
Smith had a birdie and seven pars while shooting a 41 on the front nine and a 42 on the back to finish +12 for the day.
Ashton Burdick (42, 50) had a 92, Katie Huzey (49, 48) shot a 97 and Grant Hills (49, 52) had a 101 to round out the Indians’ scoring. Luke Hamilton (102) and Brent Watkins (104) shot non-scoring rounds for CV.
Towanda finished first and went 7-0 (313) while Athens was second (327), North Penn-Mansfield was third (361) and Wellsboro placed fourth (362). Cowanesque Valley (373) beat Wyalusing (385), Canton (391) and Sayre (412).
