Northern Tier West Sports ReportTIOGA COUNTY — The inaugural Laurel Health ‘Athletes of the Week’ for the 2026 Fall sports’ season are Wellsboro senior Syler Pietrzyk and Cowanesque Valley junior Katie Huzey.
Pietrzyk and the Hornets opened the 2026 golf season by hosting the NTL teams at Tyoga Country Club and finished in 3rd place behind Pietrzyk’s round of 81 with two birdies to finish tied for 5th place in the field.
In the second league match of the first week at Towanda, Pietrzyk shot a 79 with three birdies and the Hornets placed 4th.
At the Selinsgrove Invitational, Pietrzyk took low honors with a one-over 71, leading the Hornets to a 5th-place finish. Pietrzyk used three birdies and 11 pars to shoot a 36 on the front nine and a 35 on the back.
Huzey had a 105 (51, 54) to help the Indians to a 5th place finish in the season opening match at Wellsboro, shot a 97 (49, 48) in the second match at Towanda as the Indians again placed 5th and shot a pair of 54s for a 108 at the Selinsgrove Invitational girls’ tourney, good for 12th place in the field.
