Northern Tier West Sports ReportWESTFIELD — Second-year Head Coach Stephanie Young is optimistic that her Cowanesque Valley volleyball team’s returner-filled roster is poised for a bounce-back season in 2026.
“I’m excited for the season as I only lost one player to graduation,” says Young, “This year should be a great one .. I have so many returning players who are eager to win!”
A young Lady Indians’ squad suffered through a 2-16 season in 2025, but with the experience gained by her returning players and a busy offseason, Young is excited at their prospects.
“This season is really looking up for CV volleyball,” says Young, “We had about 27 players that have signed up and consistently been to open gyms. I’m very excited to see how much we can improve from last season.”
Young points out that her new assistant coach, Melinda Stephens, is a great addition to the program.
“Coach Stephens brings a lot of experience and enthusiasm to our program,” explains Young, “We’re fortunate to have her and I'm very excited to work alongside her.”
Young continues and explains that the Lady Indians ‘theme’ for the season is ‘everyone plays everything’.
“We’ve worked on being a team and focused on our moral,” says Young, “No one player makes or breaks us .. we rise as a team and we fall as a team. There is some real talent here this season, so we will shine together as one.”
Cowanesque Valley is scheduled to open their season at the Williamson tournament on Saturday.
