Northern Tier West Sports ReportBLOSSBURG — North Penn-Mansfield made a valiant comeback attempt here Friday but would come up just shy of earning their first win of the season as they lost 23-21 to Sayre.
The Panthers fell behind 17-0 at the break to the visiting Redskins but scored twice in the third quarter and again to start the fourth quarter to go up 21-17.
Sayre would put together a game-winning drive, however, finding the end zone with just over two minutes remaining in the game to seal the win.
North Penn-Mansfield had 188 yards of offense in the loss, as Jeremiah Lawrence led the ground game with 71 yards and a score on 10 carries while Peyton Greene had 32 yards on seven carries and Bridger Lehman had five carries for 28 yards and a touchdown.
Greene completed 6-of-13 passing attempts for 57 yards and a score. Lehman caught a five-yard TD pass, Colton Pellett had a catch for 15 yards and Conner Lewis caught three balls for 36 yards.
