Northern Tier West Sports ReportMANSFIELD — The Wellsboro Golf Team placed 3rd at the final league match at Corey Creek on Thursday, led by Syler Pietrzyk’s round of 77.
Athens won the day with a four-player-score of 319, edging Towanda by one (320). The Black Knights did secure the league title however, finishing 32-3 on the season to Athens’ 31-4.
Wellsboro (354) was 3rd on the day and on the season, finishing 24-11 overall. Cowanesque Valley was 4th at Corey Creek (360) while North Penn-Mansfield was 5th (366), Canton was 6th (374), Wualusing was 7th (392) and Sayre finished last (407).
Pietrzyk shot a 40 on the front nine and 37 on the back to finish five-over at 77 with three birdies and nine pars.
Chase Schultz had a 90 (45, 45), Ben Jackson shot a 93 (49, 44), Conlen Whitsell had a 94 (47, 47), Jackson Largey had a 96 (46, 50) and Logan Johnson had a 97 (49, 48).
The Hornets will next compete at team and individual Districts.
