Northern Tier West Sports ReportWELLSBORO — The Hornets avenged their lone loss of the season and beat Towanda 5-1 in NTL boys’ soccer action here Wednesday.
Wellsboro lost 3-1 to Towanda back on September 3rd, and have gone 8-0-2 since.
The Hornets got five goals from five different players Wednesday. Liam Stevens opened the scoring with an unassisted goal off a steal midway through the first half and RJ Doughtie made it 2-0 with a goal off a Fen Moyer assist at the 15:30 mark.
James Doughtie scored of an assist from Gabe Cuneo with 11 minutes left in the first half and Cuneo scored off a Stevens helper to make it 4-0 with three minutes left to the break.
Towanda scored their lone goal nine minutes into the second half and Wellsboro answered with a Colin Fletcher score off an assist from Callen Novak to provide the final.
The Hornets outshot Towanda 17-2 and had a 7-1 advantage in corner kicks. Keeper Camden Bryant had four saves in net.
Wellsboro (10-1-2) is scheduled to return to play on Monday at North Penn-Liberty.
