Mackenzi Tice, North Penn-Liberty, sophomore

A year after winning just five games, the Lady Mounties made a run at both an NTL and a District title. Tice and company finished the regular season 14-5 and won their first-round Class AAA playoff game before falling in the District IV semis. Tice was integral in NPL’s turnaround, from both the pitcher’s circle and at the plate. The sophomore hit .453 and had an on-base-percentage of .518, racking up 34 hits on the season, including four doubles and a triple. She added 31 runs scored and 13 RBI, and was the Lady Mounties’ ace, throwing 80 2/3 innings while compiling a 7-3 record with a 2.00 ERA and 102 strikeouts.

Ruby Sherman, Cowanesque Valley, sophomore

The Lady Indians went 16-4 during the regular season, losing only to NEB and NPL, before topping NEB to reach the District IV finals and qualifying for the State championships. Sherman went 7-1 for CV .. including two complete game shutouts .. while throwing 49 2/3 innings with 69 strikeouts (1.4 per inning pitched) and just 12 walks with a 2.66 ERA.

Ashley Woodring, Cowanesque Valley, freshman

Woodring burst onto the NTL softball scene quickly in her inaugural season, racking up hits (36) and hitting .578 while getting on base two out of every three times she came up to bat (.670). Woodring equaled her 18 singles on the year with 18 extra base hits (9-2B, 3-3B, 6-HR) to compile an astounding 1.078 slugging percentage, and added 36 runs scored, 21 RBI and just four strikeouts. 

Addie Smith, North Penn-Liberty, freshman

While Smith may not have had the same gargantuan numbers at the plate as fellow freshman Woodring .. because, no one did .. she did have a very solid offensive season for the Lady Mounties (.300 BA, .367 OBP, 21 H, 8-2B, 1-3B, 18 R, 16 RBI, 8 BB) and added being a very dependable No. 2 arm for NPL to her freshman duties (5-4, 44 IP, 2.53 ERA, 63 K).
