NORTHERN TIER WEST SPORTS REPORT: ALL-TIOGA COUNTY FEMALE TRACK & FIELD TEAM (2022-06-17)
Northern Tier West Sports ReportTIOGA COUNTY — While our girls’ Track & Field teams from the West didn’t enjoy quite the levels of success that our boys’ teams did, theirs was nonetheless still a season of notable performances and achievements that NTWSR would like to recognize with our All-Tioga County Girls’ Track & Field Team.
All-Tioga County Female Track Athlete of the Year
Chelsea Hungerford, Williamson
The senior finished 2nd at the NTL meet in the 100 meter hurdles, 3rd in the 300 meter hurdles and was a member of the 4th-place 4x100 meter relay team. At Districts, Hungerford finished 12th in the 300 hurdles, won her preliminary heat in the 100 hurdles and her, Kyra Daley, Ella Churchill and Jade Colwell finished 13th in the 4x100.
All-Tioga County Female Field Athlete of the Year
Annika Gehman, Wellsboro
Gehman had an exceptional freshman campaign for the Hornets, excelling at all three jumping events. She placed 2nd at the NTL Invite in the triple jump with a hop, skip and jump of 33-01.25, then placed 11th at the District IV meet with a leap of 32-00 .. just four and a quarter inches from a medal. In the high jump, Gehman placed 3rd at the NTL’s, jumping 4-08, then cleared 4-10 at Districts and only missed out on a medal because three other girls cleared the same height earlier in their attempts. The Hornet placed 5th in the long jump at the NTL meet with a PR jump of 14-10.5, qualifying for and finishing 17th at Districts.
