TIOGA COUNTY — Wellsboro's Annie Gehman had an exceptional inaugural season as a jumper for the Lady Hornets Track & Field team, and the freshman highlights the Northern Tier West Sports Reports "Super 7 Female Newcomers of the Spring".

All-Tioga County Female ‘Newcomer of the Spring’

Annika Gehman, Wellsboro Track & Field, freshman
Gehman placed 2nd at the NTL Invite in the triple jump with a 33-01.25, then placed 11th at the District IV meet with a leap of 32-00 .. just four and a quarter inches from a medal. In the high jump, Gehman placed 3rd at the NTL’s, jumping 4-08, then cleared 4-10 at Districts and only missed out on a medal because three other girls cleared the same height earlier in their attempts. The Hornet placed 5th in the long jump at the NTL meet with a PR jump of 14-10.5, qualifying for and finishing 17th at Districts.

Remaining Super 7 Female ‘Newcomers of the Spring’

Ashley Woodring, CV Softball, freshman
Woodring burst onto the NTL softball scene quickly in her inaugural season, racking up hits (36) and hitting .578 while getting on base two out of every three times she came up to bat (.670). Woodring equaled her 18 singles on the year with 18 extra base hits (9-2B, 3-3B, 6-HR) to compile an astounding 1.078 slugging percentage, and added 36 runs scored, 21 RBI and just four strikeouts.

Addie Smith, NP-Liberty Softball, freshman
Smith had a very solid offensive season in helping the Lady Mounties make an 11-game improvement (.300 BA, .367 OBP, 21 H, 8-2B, 1-3B, 18 R, 16 RBI, 8 BB) and added being a very dependable No. 2 arm for NPL to her freshman duties (5-4, 44 IP, 2.53 ERA, 63 K).

Lexi Urena, Wellsboro softball, freshman
The NTL home run-leader (7) hit .393, had an on-base-percentage of .479 and a slugging percentage of .836, thanks to those seven home runs, four doubles and a triple among her 24 hits. She added 26 runs scored, 28 RBI, and threw 25 innings for the Hornets, going 0-4 with a 7.36 ERA and 19 strikeouts.

Jade Colwell, Williamson Track & Field, freshman
Colwell placed 7th in the 100 meter dash at the NTL Invite, 11th in the 200 and then finished 11th in the 100 at the District IV Championships. She also was a member of Williamson’s 4x100 meter relay team, which qualified for and placed 13 at the District IV meet.

Paige Logsdon, Wellsboro softball, freshman
More than half of Logsdon’s 26 base hits on the season were for extra bases, as she had 12 doubles, two triples and two home runs while batting .441 with a .507 OBP and an .814 slugging percentage. She added 17 runs scored and 21 RBI, and also pitched 9 2/3 innings to go 0-1 with six K’s.

Cassidy Andreason, Williamson softball, freshman
Williamson relied on several freshmen this season as they look to rebuild with a very young roster, with Andreason proving to be a major part of the process, collecting 13 hits, including three doubles, to bat .310 and drawing six walks and being hit three times to compile a .431 on-base-percentage.
