TRAVEL SOFTBALL: NY LADY REBELS FINISH IN TOP 30 OF 90-TEAM NATIONAL TOURNEY (2022-07-17)

COLUMBUS, OH — The NY Lady Rebels, featuring a predominantly Tioga County, PA roster, finished 2-1-1 at the North American All Sanctioned Softball World Series here this past weekend.

The Rebels were seeded into the “Platinum” (top 30 of 90 total teams) bracket based on their performance over the first two days, but rain cancelled the final day of games. 

Players for the Rebels are:
Mackenzi Tice, Saige Lehman, Addie Smith, McKenna Lightner, Megan Spohn and Payton Chapel, all from North Penn-Liberty, as well as Ruby Sherman, Logan Hamilton and Ashley Woodring from Cowanesque Valley, and Maddi Coots from Haverling, NY.

On Friday, the Rebels topped Elevate White 9-0, as Mackenzi Tice threw three hitless innings with seven strikeouts and Ruby Sherman allowed just one hit in two innings with two K’s.

Of the Rebels seven hits in the game, Payton Chapel had two, with two RBI, Megan Spohn had two, with three RBI and Addie Smith had a triple and Saige Lehman and Sherman each had a hit. Lehman added a pair of RBI.

In game two, the Rebels topped UA Golden Gloves 15-0 in three innings. Smith threw two hitless innings and had six strikeouts, and Chapel threw one inning and allowed just one hit.

The Rebels had 12 hits in the game, with Smith leading the way with three hits, including a double, and three RBI. Lehman had two triples and two RBI, while Sherman had two hits, with a double, and an RBI. Ashley Woodring and Logan Hamilton each had a double, while Tice and McKenna Lightner each had a hit. Woodring had three RBI, Tice had two and Hamilton had one.

In their third game, the Rebels tied the Leo Pride 9-9. Lehman had two hits, with a double, and an RBI, while Woodring had two doubles and an RBI and Sherman had two hits and two RBI. Smith had a home run, and Chapel and Lightner each added a hit.

In their only loss of the weekend .. a 9-4 defeat against Explosive Elite .. Woodring, Tice, Lightner and Coots each had two hits.
