LITTLE LEAGUE BASEBALL: WELLSBORO MAJORS' CHAMPIONSHIP SEASON ENDS IN SECTIONALS (2022-07-21)
Northern Tier West Sports ReportPOTTSBILLE — Following their District 15 championship, Wellsboro's major baseball team concluded their run in the post-season on Wednesday as they dropped their second Sectional game, 4-1 to Mifflinburg, to be eliminated.
The Hornets started their post-season by going 1-1 in pool play, beating Tioga Lawrenceville 21-0 and falling 4-3 to Allegheny Mountain-Elkland.
In the District Championship bracket, Wellsboro opened with a 9-6 win over Troy, then were beaten 4-2 by Towanda, dropping them into the loser's bracket.
There, Wellsboro rattled off six straight wins to work their way back and win the Championship over Athens. The run included wins over AM-E (3-2), Susquehanna County (9-0), Southern Tioga (6-1), Towanda (8-4) and a pair of wins over Athens to claim the title (5-1 and 13-10).
