Waverly senior Ty Beeman and Corning junior Angie McKane are the winners of The Sports Reports inaugural “Athlete of the Week” awards.

The five Sports Reports cover 24 school districts across Bradford and Tioga counties in Pa., Chemung and Tioga counties in N.Y., and Corning.

(NOTE: The “Athletes of the Week” will normally be announced on Sunday evening.)

WAVERLY’S BEEMAN IS BOYS ‘ATHLETE OF THE WEEK’
Beeman was an integral part of Waverly’s season-opening, 31-13, win over Chester Saturday night — on both sides of the ball.

Beeman registered 15 tackles, including four tackles-for-loss, one quarterback sack, and two forced fumbles.

On the offensive side of the ball, Beeman anchored a Wolverine line that paved the way for 250 rushing yards, and 361 yards in total offense.

CORNING’S McKANE IS GIRLS ‘ATHLETE OF THE WEEK’
McKane hit the state cut in both of her individual events against Binghamton. Set the pool record in Binghamton in the 100-yard buterfly and broke the school record in the 200-yard IM.
